As a dues paying member of the NYSPMA, you are automatically a member of the First National Guild for Health Care Providers of the Lower Extremity, often referred to as the Office & Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) Guild 45.
OPEIU has more than 104,000 members and is one of the larger unions of the AFL-CIO.
Professional medical organizations and Guilds affiliated with OPEIU are a diverse group that include podiatrists, registered nurses and clinical social workers. Because of its direct affiliation with the AFL-CIO, OPEIU has been able to provide extensive advocacy support at both the state and national level. In addition, it also provides several scholarship opportunities and accidental death, dismemberment and towing services.
