The purpose of the conference is to assist MRCA Members that are signatory to various craft unions by providing labor relations education, statistics and an exchange of information and ideas

Open to MRCA Members & Non-Members. Must be a signatory contractor to attend.

International Roofers and Waterproofers Union General President Jim Hadel

General President Hadel will give us an update on the activities and initiatives of the Union including workforce development and retention, joint marketing of the benefits of using union contractors, and mental health. We will then have an open forum to discuss items of mutual interest.

Reviewing CLRC Statistics and MRCA Signatory Contractors Wage Notebook and the new Signatory Contractors Council Portal on the MRCA website.

CLRC is recognized by both the craft unions and employer groups as an independent source for statistics on the Union Construction. CLRC information includes the latest statistics on contract settlements in each craft of the Building Trades from across the country. They also provide specific statistics on fringe benefits; comparisons to cost of living; and market share studies that are performed by CLRC.

The MRCA Wage Notebook provides updated wage information on recent Roofers Local Union settlements.

SPEAKER:, Cecilia Scanlon, Ledbetter Partners

Cecilia Scanlon is a specialist in ERISA with a practice focus on Apprenticeship Funds. She serves as Counsel to many registered apprenticeship programs. Scanlon guides Apprenticeship Fund Trustees, Program Coordinators and Instructors through the web of Department of Labor and State Apprenticeship Council regulations, ERISA compliance, and labor law implications for a training program. Scanlon will be sharing her insight on Apprenticeship and Training Fund Best Practices and Frequently Asked Questions, but she will also be available to discuss your specific program challenges as well.

SPEAKER: Christina Wernick, Partner with Laner Muchin, LTD.

Christina has an extensive background in construction industry labor law and has worked representing firms in the construction industry since the beginning of her career. She will be speaking about Industry Funds. What are the advantages to having them and how can they be used. In addition, she is available to field legal questions about bargaining, Taft Hartly fringe funds, PTO, and other questions attendees may have.

Valerie was successful in negotiating a AAA Binding Arbitration No Strike-No Lockout Clause as a part of the new contract between the Roofing Contractors Association of Central Ohio and Roofers Local No. 86. The clause has some unique features you may want to include in your next agreement!
